iMac RAM Combos -- Any performance differences?

How do.

Quick question, for anyone with an iMac who has upgraded the RAM,

does using different capacity RAM sticks have an adverse effect on system performance?

e.g. using 2x2Gb and 2x4Gb to achieve 12Gb, as opposed to 3x4Gb.

Will it - in these circumstances - negate the dual-channel aspect of the memory?
