imac ram question

hi, im gonna purchase a mac mini for a portable audio workstation. we already have a dual 1.8 with a gig or ramn in the studio and it works well... gonna purchase another, ,and was wondering if i should get 2 GB ram straight away, and does it make a large difference for audio applications such as ableton?
