Hello guys,

My 2014 27” iMac is still going strong (touches wood), the 3tb fusion storage is almost maxed out but now that I’ve cleared all outstanding photography jobs I’ll be having a spring clean over the next few days and transferring most of these files to my external NAS, so freeing up lots of space on the fusion drive. I’m guessing I’ll be down to c. 1tb when done.

I’m currently running with 24gb of RAM and I believe the max this iMac will go to is 32gb. Running Resource Monitor I notice that I’m routinely using 16-20gb when using Capture One and Photoshop working on photo processing, so I’m now looking to buy x2 8gb (to replace the original x2 4gb) to take me to the 32gb limit. It’ll be good to know if I’ll notice a significant difference with the 8gb (taking me to 32gb) upgrade, or if my almost maxed out 3tb fusion drive was hogging all my memory resources (and the primary cause of slowdowns). Any advice gratefully received.

Best wishes,
David
