Imac redesign, yes or no?

Hi guys,

What do you think? Will apple redesign the imac? Little cosmetic changes? Or just better hardware?

The think is that i personally don't see a reason to redesign the imac, it looks really good and they just released the new macbooks which look identical like the imac. But i do think there will be some cosmetic changes, just little ones.

I have an imac right now, well it's in for reperation but i have one. What do you think, will it be worth to sell it and buy a new one?

Please, if there is similair thread out there, sorry but dont whine

Gut feeling, is that the next update will just be a hardware update.

The current form factor is good and will last for a while.

Apple has made it painfully clear they prefer the current aluminum and cheap plastic fisher price look.

the design has just been updated this year from the old white G5 design and same for the MacBooks from the G4/white MacBook design.

the iMac design wont be updated for a while. just incremental hardware updates until then.

When the original CRT iMac came out, I thought it was the most amazing computer. No changes needed.

Then LCD technology came out, OK, v2.

Now we have this great all in one, being cheap, light, efficient. I can't think of what can be better outside of minor changes. It's thin, so what, thinner? Quad core, but that's on the inside.

The update to the aluminium case was actually in August 2007.

I also think it will just be updates to the hardware.

I agree, the look apple is moving the entire line to is Aluminum, glass and black trim. I cannot see them changing the look of the iMac now. I think the update will be hardware only.

if you're waiting in the hope for a redesign, stop wasting your time. It will not happen for awhile i.e. not in 2009.

My guess is LED backlit displays in January, to match the new 24" MacBook external display (and hopefully a 'normal' cinema display to use with Mac Pro's).

I completely agree. They've finally got most of their computers to match, to look like a family. They are not likely to change that now.
