According to a rumor at gizmocruch, the imac is going to be coming in june. I just got an i7 imac last thursday. I am really considering taking it back and just waiting it out.

Anyone else just get an Imac that is taking it back to get the refresh?

Thats not really a rumor for of a 'conclusion' that the editor of the article has drawn from the rumors others have posted.

Meh, might be wishful thinking on my part but i still think we will see something before the end of may.

if not, whats another month!

New iMacs will be released before June -- you can bet on it. In fact, I suspect you'll see the updates announced either next week or the first week in May.

ehh, this site isn't really citing any new sources. Other than saying that there are supply chain constraints, it is guessing the release date.

And the connection to WWDC is a weak one -- Apple can still show off Lion regardless of how recently a machine was refreshed, and why would they spend time talking about nothing but speed improvements in this refresh? Doesn't make sense.

Nothing new here imo.

That said -- I would take it back. We're still looking for the next 2 weeks for the new iMacs, off of Brian Tong's tweet.

As everyone has said, june seems unlikely because most rumors point to it being sooner.

So, the answer to your conundrum... return the Mac TODAY and wait.

Yea, like others have said, other than the title of the article, there's nothing even in it that says "it'll be june, here's why." I think apple knows to get TB off the ground, they need as many machines as possible to have it.

combine that with the fact that if they release the imacs in time for them to not have to provide upgrades to early iMac refresh buyers, it makes too much sense to release it ASAP. they'd lose too much revenue to wait that long.

Yes, I am going to take it back to the apple store on Saturday. I will kick myself in the butt if I don't. As I do use it for games as well, I am sure the performance will be better for now. Plus with thunderbolt the possibilities for external gpu's in the future are better. Also because I do alot of video editing I hear thunderbolt will be beneficial due to it's high transfer rates.

Yep. Add me to the waiting list. I can fiddle de diddle my ipad 2 in the meantime.

For what it's worth, Apple is restricting time off for their store employees at the end of May. Could be the iMac refresh, could be anything.

iMac refreshes (just like MBP refreshes) usually don't come with much fanfare at all unless it's a complete redesign. I highly doubt that's the case with the iMacs this year, so it seems like whatever's happening at the end of May has to be bigger than just iMac refreshes. I guess we'll see!!

The end of May event is almost certainly going to be the 10 year anniversary of the Apple Retail stores.

And since they want shiny new things to sell in those stores as they celebrate their 10th anniversary (and are apparently doing something to draw people in), guess what will be refreshed before the middle of May? :)

Apple needs to have new MBPs and new iMacs in the store before this happens. I'm pretty convinced that the first week of May is the latest we'll be waiting.

Exactly, the no time off doesn't have anything to do with the IMAC.
