Hey guys, so I purchased my iMac back in December 22nd 2009.
Then, it turned out to develop more and more problems overtime, so I'm currently in the process of getting it replaced.

Anyway, so I checked out the new MacBook Pros and I think they're pretty awesome.

So, I remember hearing something about Apple offering refunds of some sort to people.

It seems like Apple haven't quiet fixed all the iMac issues yet, chances are, mine won't be perfect, just like most other peoples.

Does anybody know how the refunds work? Would I be able to actually even get one? Or even a store credit to purchase some other item(s)?

P.S. I got my iMac from Best Buy, but I do have AppleCare for it. I'm not sure if that even makes a difference.

I've heard of no such refund from Apple nor has Apple issued any iMac recalls.

At any rate, Apple isn't going to offer you a refund on a machine they didn't sell you anyway. I doubt very much that Best Buy is going to offer a refund on a computer purchased 4 months ago either but I suppose it couldn't hurt to inquire.

Having AppleCare means that Apple will repair/replace any faulty parts on your machine for 3 years from the date of purchase. It does not offer refunds for covered products in the event that someone who encounters problems decides they bought the wrong computer.

I'd wait to see your replacement. How do you know it won't be fine? I took delivery of my week 47 i7 in November of last year and haven't had any issues whatsoever.

Thank you for your reply, and I actually assumed the same. I was just wondering, and yeah, it's sorta very unlikely for Apple to do that.
Either way, thanks, and fingers crossed on getting a good computer :D

I'm really sorry to hear that you had problems with your original machine and I know how frustrating that can be because I had a series of problems with my previous iMac (mid-2007 24").

I'll cross my fingers for you too. I'll bet you get a good one. ;)

the funny thing is, I never had the yellow tint on my screen.
it was basically everything but that. the LED bleeding, loud HDD, fans were out of control and the computer would pretty much get sizzling hot.

But anyway, thank you :) It should be coming in on the 21st :D So I'm pretty stoked.
