Anyone kind to explain the replacement process?
Are they gonna replace the whole box, meaning the machine together with the magic mouse and keyboard?
So, i have contacted the Apple CS. They did offered me a replacement, but in the condition that i will have to send the current back to them 1st, and then wait another 2 weeks to receive my replacement.
But this is the only computer i have right now, and i need it for daily usage. I request them to send me a new one 1st, and i will send back the old 1 upon receipt of the new one. But they said it is not possible. What they suggested was i pay another 2k to order a new one and upon receiving, I can return the old one and ask for a refund.
It is just ridiculous, I am just a student, do they think my father own a bank or something?
I would like to know what you guys suggest me to do. Perhaps an email to Mr. Jobs?

It does seem to be a bit random how they process replacements - they can organise it differently. I have unfortunately had to return two iMacs and both times they have, without question, arranged an "Advanced Replacement" where by I kept the original computer until the replacement was delivered and then I had ten days to return the original (their courier phones you an you arrange a collection appointment).
I would get back to your agent and say things like you're in the middle of an important college project, you need to ensure the integrity of your data and maybe even that you don't have an external HDD to back-up to. keep it friendly and hopefully they may sort it for you.
PS. Just a friendly heads up but it's generally regarded as bad form to double post the same question in different threads - especially as you have created a specific thread for your question.![]()
sorry for the double post, just hope to get a solution asap.
I did told him about how i need the computer so much. But his reason is security issue and what i suspect is they might just blindly following the rules, and maybe if i could sound my problem to a higher level officer, I might just get things done.

If you have an Apple Store near you, ask them to ship the replacement there and then go in and swap machines.

I got to keep mine while they shipped me a new one. I'd let them know that you know that they are offering this to other people. I'm a student as well and absolutely could not go without a computer for 3-5 weeks.
Edit: I think you misunderstood the Apple Care person. They take your card but do not charge it unless you don't sent the new one back.
