Hi all. I have 2 questions about this fine computer:

1-can it be used as an external monitor? I bought a MBP and was wondering if there is a means to use it as a monitor instead of having to buy an Apple Display for $1400-$1600?

2-is there a recommended site (if macrumors does, let me know) where I can post this iMac for sale? It is a fantastic machine, in mint condition, with an i7 and 40GB of RAM. I'd have kept it for another few years at least as the screen is great, but I needed a solution with portability.

TIA.

Not really, at least not without significant hardware modifications.

There are some hacky software solutions, but they are not great.
Hi Moose, ty for weighing in.

I suspected as such, and if I was Apple I'd probably do the same to ensure increased purchases of the ASD. Annoying, but understandable.

1. Hardware wise and directly as a real 5k monitor: No
Software base or indirectly: There are several options
- Capture device
- Wireless display via network
- Remote control your MBP from the iMac
etc....
