Hey all...

The specs on my RevA iMac are as follows:

1.8ghz processor
1.5gb RAM
17" LCD with Dual Display setup...

Now, I notice that my idle temp hovers right around 160 degrees Fahrenheit... which is about 78 degrees Centigrade. This seems a bit high, as hot air is constantly coming out of the back of it... or is this normal?

In any case I really don't want to damage the components and it seems keeping the computer on constantly at this temperature posts a risk for it :(

Am I just worrying too much or is this a bit excessive?

Also are dashboard widgets supposed to always take up RAM? All of my widgets take up a fair share of ram (about 30mb's each), and I was wondering if this would increase the temperature as well.

Thanks in advance,

Ken

*bump*

I've read a lot of places that idle temperatures for PCs are sometimes under 100 degrees fahrenheit... I'm starting to get reallllly worried. Can somebody just post what their temp widget displays while idle? Thanks :(

Mine is 159 Fahrenheit at the moment, with Safari, iChat and Mail open.

I have a rev.B 2.0 Ghz iMac with 512 RAM installed, running with Mail, iChat, Safari and QuickSilver.

Idle time is 153F. When I play World of Warcraft, it will get up into mid to high 180s.
