Hey folks,
Around September I got my brand new 27" iMac (mid 2010). Over the past two weeks it seems to have started running really loudly, even when doing next to nothing. Whether opening up a browser, or searching in Finder is seems REALLY loud.

Just wondered if anyone has any experience with this, or happens to have a quick fix....

1: check fan rpms and internal temperatures via a monitoring app.
2: use hardware check to see if any logic board temp sensor has gone bad
3: reset smc.

I'd first check if there's really "next to nothing" going on via Activity Monitor. For example, I've caught the Safari Flash plugin go crazy and hog the processor like the greedy piece of code it is. Seems like the most likely scenario.

cheers
