iMac Screen Separation?

Hello,
I own a 27 inch iMac (Late 2012). I purchased it from apple and when I received it there was a small line at the top left of the screen over the menu bar. Stupidly, I was excited for my iMac and ignored the line. The line has progressed to get larger and move slightly downward and now have 3 tab like areas. See the attached images.
Does anyone know what this could be from and any potential solutions?

Could be image retention, which is an occasional issue on LCD panels.

Is there any difference on the menubar when you do NOT have Chrome open?

If your boot to your Recovery system (Restart, holding Command-R), do you see the same lines in the menubar?

Do the lines become less visible if you shut your iMac off, disconnect all cords, then let it sit powered off for 48 hours?

If your iMac is still under warranty, make an appointment and take it in to the Apple store. Otherwise, there likely isn't anything you can do aside from replacing the display.

OK.
I did also say "disconnect all cords", not just "off". That assures that you don't get ANY power through ANY other source.
Still may not make a difference - and after three years or so, that seems fairly unlikely to help - but it's just a suggestion.

You can search for 27-inch replacement LCD panels. Not gonna be cheap...
I'm guessing that you are thinking about selling that iMac, and the lines won't be helpful for that sale...
