At night I'll leave my computer on and go to bed. It will go into sleep mode, but when I wake up in the morning I have to press the power button to turn it back on instead of moving the mouse like when it goes to sleep mode. Is the computer supposed to turn off on its own like that?

Not unless you have it scheduled to shut down in the Energy Saver control panel. Check and make sure its not set to do that.
