I love Apple because they take a great deal of time and care over the design and style of their products ..... they have an attention to detail which few other companies possess .....

So WTF happened with the mismatched peripherals of the iMac !?

A sexy as hell iMac paired with a sexy as hell Keyboard ..... which doesn't even match the colour scheme ..... and a Mouse and Remote which is still styled after the previous All White iMac from a previous and now obsolete generation ?!

Would it be so hard to produce a Keyboard with black keys to match the aesthetic of the iMac ? Does it really take this long to revamp the Mouse and Remote ?! :(

What the funk is going on with Apple ?!

PS - It would also be nice if the Keyboard was back-lit and had a built-in SD Card Reader !! :D

One reason could be is because it's a keyboard and mouse? It's not tied to a system. They match my wife's White Macbook perfectly.

If they were exclusive to the iMac then I would see why the complaint but they aren't. They can be used with any system.

"So why not black?" Well, why not white? Mini's have white, MB have white why not make them exclusively black and alum. MP are just a box so one could essentially get a pink monitor, so why not make the keys pink now?

I know that was a bit sarcastic but was just trying to prove a point.

It would be nice however to have the keyboard option to choose either white or black keys, both backlit with blue maybe? Would be a nice option but not worthy of a "WTF"

That keyboard looks great with the white iMac.

A lot of PC keyboards are all black, so many people are used to that. I think an alum keyboard with black keys would look pretty cool.

They should just offer 2 versions. Same thing with the mouse.

I really love this flat keyboard with the short keystrokes, surprised no other manufacturer has copied it yet.

I think the next version will look like the Macbook Air's. Once we get new MacBook and Mini designs I expect it to change to black to match.

Back in the pre mighty mouse days of the 1-button pro mouse, I believe it shipped in both black and white. I don't see why they can't do the same with the mighty mouse and new keyboard.

3 reasons:

1. To match the mighty mouse. If they made the keyboard black the mighty mouse would stick out like a sore thumb. No they aren't going to create a metal mouse or a black mouse.

2. With the peripherals having white in them, it creates a nice contrast with the black/silver iMac. The colours complement each other, they don't need to be the same colour to match.

3. Apple thinks black peripherals/cords are ugly and PC-like.

black and white are non-colors... the color of the iMac and the keyboard is aluminum... and since black and white are non-colors, they go with everything... besides, a designers first mistake is being too "matchy-matchy"... so do they match? it's debatable...

and might i ask why you're complaining about the color being unpleasing while you think a built-in SD card reader would be apparently gorgeous? ghetto on that.

True ..... but they are selling the Keyboard/Mouse/Remote with the iMac as a complete system ..... :apple:

Why not BOTH ! Give people the option ! :D

Agreed !!

Disagree ..... it's well worthy of a WTF ! :p

Well they SHOULD make a Silver/Back Mouse ! ;)

In which case why bother making an Alu Keyboard ..... leave it like it was before so it can compliment !

Do you have personal contact with Steve Jobs ?!

Dude, a small cut-out on the side of the Keyboard which accepts SD cards, would not change the look of the Keyboard in any way !

Apple did have a black key board with a black mouse, a few years ago. It was their pro line.
You could pick one up on line I have seen places selling refurbished ones.

usb apple black keyboards

I like the white color, it's like their signature. It was already hard for me to see them change the color of their imacs from white. Even them changing the Apple, in the menu bar from blue to black with 10.5. Was in a small way, disappointing for me.

Why not silver keys? A lot of people think the black keys are ugly. (I like them, though.) I don't get what's so bad about white keys, though. But I have noticed they get very dirty....

Backlit would be very nice indeed! :)
