iMac/Snow Leopard External HD issue

Weird issue I've been encountering with my parent's iMac. In order for everyone to have access to the iTunes Library, I moved it from a folder on the computer to an external HD. Now, for some reason, the computer decides to apply permissions to the external drive, even though we keep changing it to 'ignore ownership on this volume'. Anyone else run into this situation or have an idea as to what may be going on?

Have you tried repairing permissions with Disk Utility?

Are you under and Admin account?

When you right click and Get Info, under sharing and permissions does it have 'Username (Me) - Read & Write'
staff - Read & Write
everyone - Read Only?


i recall this happening a few times on one of my externals and solved it that way.
