Hi guys,

I want to buy an old computer for a friend who is considering switching to macs. He needs to be able to run Tiger as he needs VoiceOver. I've looked around and I could get him an iMac Strawberry with 333MHz processor and 128MB RAM but my fear is that this won't by any means run Tiger well. Anyone know?

Thanks

I believe you need at least 256 MB RAM to run Tiger. Also, i recommend getting a g4 or higher with 512-1GB RAM.

i wouldn't put tiger NEAR one of those. just my opinion.

Yeah, Tiger would be horrible on that... if it even installs that is. Tiger on my iBook uses about 256MB RAM to begin with... theres no way it would run on that.

To run OS X on that system you'd need this and the max OS doable on the 333Mhz system is X.3.9 aka Panther

Well, I'm sure you can get Tiger onto it with XPostFacto. Heck, people have installed Tiger onto PowerMac 7600s! (with G3 or G4 upgrade cards in them, to be sure).

You do need more RAM though.
