My 3-month old iMac was responding very slowly when I used the latest version of Safari. So I forced quit the program. From then on, whenever I turned on the iMac, it would get stuck at the Apple logo start up screen. I had to unplug the power since the machine is getting very hot after 15 mins. Any advice?? Cheers.

doesnt sound good at all, could be a bad hard disc, might not be though.

First thing i'd do is stick your recovery disc in and see if it boots and try a disc repair in the disc utility.

If that doesnt work contact Apple as it'll still be under warranty

Reset the PRAM if that fails put your install dvd in and hold C after booting up and install over the top. If that fails, take it to genius (lol) bar

Edit:

It seems you being stuck at the logo means the computer is stuck in an endless cpu intensive task which would cause heating. I would suggest the disk repair and also a install over. Even better a clean install if you have everything backed up somewhere.
