I'm about to buy the Logitech Z-5500 Speakers for my iMac G5 and future Xbox 360 but I have a question about the placement of the sub. I live in a dorm so I don't have a whole lot of space to put my sub except for under my desk.... will that effect my iMac in any way due to the subs magnetism and the iMacs hd?

The space between the bottom of the desk and the iMac is about 2-2.5 feet (maybe 3, I'm guesstimating)

Not going to be a problem at all. I had my old sub about 6 inches away from my PM for about 3 months before getting rid of the sub/speaker setup I had. In all reality, under your desk is the best spot to put a sub.

My sony sub was chocking my modem or router when I first installed it. I suggest you place it 1 feet from your stuff wich could be affected by magnetism (while offtopic, crt monitor also can weaken your internet connection if near your modem).

Just a heads up about the Z-5500's I have them and left them at home when I first came to college, but then two weeks ago I brought them back to my dorm with me. In thoughs two weeks I have gotten 5 noise violations. It's not that I like to have my music up really low, but the sub is incredibly loud even when set to low or playing music that barely has any bass. I love this sound system but watch out for noise violations.

I have my Creature II sub (well I guess not really a sub) 3 cm from my iMac. It's been there for over a year and no HD problems, though maybe it's shielded as it's not that big of a sub.

I've always had my sub under my computer desk. You can pretty much place a sub anywhere in a room. They're good foot rests too. I should quit doing that.
