Hello everyone,

A few days now my iMac suddenly awakes from sleep without being touched, and everytime in the morning. I checked console.log and there was this:
Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717
Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8717
Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1193 and product ID=8718
found my device (vendor = 1193, product = 8718)
Interface found.
Interface class 255, subclass 0
Interface has 3 endpoints.
And this is repeated 3 times this morning, and my iMac woke up 3 times. Anyone got an idea what I could do to fix this? OS is 10.4.9 with all updates.

And another thing! My iMac is noisier than before! Fans blow louder. Before i could barely hear any noises when I had only a few apps open like iTunes and last.fm, and now it blows all the same when I've got a few little apps open or something heavier like WoW! What can i do?!

I repaired permissions last night. It wakes randomly! A few days ago, 4 am I woke up and suddenly my iMac woke up too! And it's not like I'm moving a mouse or anything, it sits 5 meters from me! This morning the iMac woke up and I woke up and put it to sleep again (alt+cmd+eject), a few hours later it happened again, I put it to sleep, and some time later it woke up by itself again. Could someone trying to hack it and awake it?!

I don't know what causes your iMac to wake up. But this may help you ease the trouble every time it wakes up. You should put login password, so it will go back to sleep again if nobody is in front of your computer.

Theoretically, maybe. In practice, nope. To be double-sure this isn't the case, make sure the Wake For Ethernet settings is unchecked in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.

While were at it, maybe try a SMU reset. This will help if there's something quirky in the computer's power settings, but this won't help if the problem is caused by a peripheral or app. If the SMU reset doesn't help, then unplug one peripheral at a time to see if you can eliminate the problem and possibly find the culprit.

I did the SMU Reset! And now the fans blow as fast and loud as they can! Is this normal?! Will it stop after awhile? Hope it does.

I guess it was the scanner that woke up the computer, so I unplugged it...

As for my other problem with the noise, it's gotten worse now!

Well I guess the problem was that I was resetting the SMU but it was only for PPC iMacs. :) I reset the SMC and now it's so quiet! Like when I turned it on for the first time! Problem solved.

A USB Scanner powered on and connected to a Mac will cause the Mac to wake up.
I have an Epson USB and it does it on mine too.I just un-plug the scanner before sleeping the Mac.Problem solved.
