iMac Superdrive question

How far do you have to push the CD into the super drive to have it inserted? I pushed mine in all the way until the imac takes it in. Is this normal?

It is pretty close to all the way in before it takes it on mine as well. I recently a few months ago had mine replaced under warranty because it would not take discs anymore.
