More often that not when i put a cd in my iMac's superdrive it is extremely noisy. I assume that i will have to take it to an apple store to get fixed, but is there anything i can do / likely cause for this noise.

mine is new last week and I find it slightly noisey compared to the rest of the dead silent Mac. When I have a cd in it is is noticeable tho.

Wether this is a problem or just the way it is I dont know.

With some Cds / DVDs it is deadly silent, others it is brutal. First time in got the Cd out as quickly as possible as it sounded like it was totally destroying it. It sounds like a somewhat distance harley / power lopper.

yeah my imac is pretty noisy when it comes to cds and dvds in the drive. but it normally goes silent again after a couple minutes when its finished spinning the disc. also, the noise comes back when playing/watching the disc but its quiet.
