I recently switched to the Mac and tried to rip my first CD into iTunes today since having it. The speed wasn't as fast as I assumed a brand new iMac would be, not really getting much above 6x when importing the album (which doesn't appear to have any sort of copy protection on it as far as I can see). Whilst this is still better than the maximum of 3x that my old Sony Vaio laptop used to achieve I was expecting more, maybe because the PC in the house manages to import at around 11x on the default iTunes settings. Is this a normal sort of indication for the speed that the iMac normally handles a music CD?

Thanks
