I live in El Centro, Ca. about 10 miles north of Mexicali Mexico. We had a 7.2 EQ (although I am a CA lifer, it was one to remember). I was at work when it happened. I came home SURE that everything had fallen as was dead.

All of my taller furniture was destroyed.
My 46' Samsung LED was found on the ground cracked.
Dishes, fridge all on the floor.
I expected my 27 Imac to surely be on the hard floor cracked.
I was delighted to find that my 27' Imac stand had held, and was right where I left it! I now have faith in the quality of apple products! (it's my 1st Mac, about a months old).

My water heater, on the other hand exploded and submerged the apartment below me.

Heres a video I found from Here in EL Centro.

I live in Aliso Viejo southern OC and it was the biggest I've felt in 40 years
my car was swaying like a boat at sea....

Sucks your 46" samsung fell over. That screen size is probably too large for the base, whereas the 27" iMac should have been fine. That's why they recommend you secure your flat screen TV's.

Here's another video, captured by Mac software too!

yea had I known it's fate would be decided by a 200 year earthquake, I would have tied it down =(

that's what insurance is for. good to hear the imac was safe. worth more than the sammy tv! :)

I think only the elite rich have earthquake insurance here in California.

Earthquake insurance is like Hurricane Insurance in Florida, but 4x the price.
