iMac taking forever to index?

Is this normal? It takes about 10 minutes for my spotlight to index. I've recently upgraded to SL, and noticed this among many other slowdown issues (imac stops responding, then all of a sudden executes all the commands once it "catches up," wayyy more beach balls, typing lags behind in firefox, takes forever to open a new tab in safari, etc..)


FYI i have a 24" 2.66 with 4 gb/ram.

Did you do an upgrade or clean install? Remember repair your permissions and give OnyX a try

I did an upgrade. I've repaired permissions multiple times with Disk Utility. I have Onyx, is there anything specifically I should try with this program?
