Hi guys, this is my first iMac, so Ive this questions;
In these days it's very hot here, 32° (90F) and over, and my room is exposed at sunlight all the afternoon, and its not very big.
I hold the window closed, but its always hot in the house, 26° (79F) or more.

If I hold the iMac turn on (with minimum brightness) for 10 or more minutes he starts to be heated, and now for example, that is night and I've 24°(75F) in my room, I've these temperatures:

It's normal?

Thanks and sorry for my english :p

those are average speeds for 90% of imac imo..

but i like to keep my hdd under 50c and my cpu under 40 so i use smcfancontrol and i have
the hdd fan at 2000
cpu at 1,600
odd at 1,200

this keeps my hdd at 46-48c
cpu at 35-39
and gpu at 40-44c

and i love it to seeing it that way.. specially the hdd being that i heat is the number 1 killer for hard drives..

Edit: I also put a 8" Fan mounted on the side wall since it's near my imac and i put it on low settings and it brings down the imac a couple of degrees... It might be overkill to some but i want this computer to last me for the next 6 years so it's worth it to me..

do you guys have a link with "normal" operating temps for the imacs, kinda like a more researched bit?

@bttony
are the fans more audible in these settings than the default ones? Btw, I would think besides heat mttf of the manufacturer is primarily the reason a drive would fail, and I don't think that you are gaining much, my 2 cents here.

Well i say there was a 8 - 12 % noise increase but nothing major... I know some people complain about noise from their machines but to me it's really dead silent..

Specially when i turn on my 8" Fan on the side wall.. then yeah the imac becomes absolutely silent.:D

i agree with bullettooth that for longer life the hd temps are what to watch

you dont have to think about the gpu and cpu tho as they are rated very high temps

if you are selling/upgrading after a year or two though probably you dont need to think about temps at all
