iMac Three Beeps!

Hey guys

Just came home from work and turn my iMac on and it made three beeps..like beep beep beep..pause and so on. Am I screwed?

Please help!

*UPDATE*

Got my machine today, so happy! Powered it on and....same problem :( WTF! I am on the phone waiting for an apple rep! so annoyed!
 
It's probably your RAM.

You need to take the RAM out of the slot on the bottom of the iMac, and try swapping them into the opposite slot. If that makes sense...

Take the two RAM sticks out, and then just swap them — just put them into their opposite slots.

After starting the computer back up, if that doesn't work, you'll probably need to replace the RAM. If the computer is under warranty, Apple will replace it for free. If it's not under warranty, new sticks of RAM start around $40.
 
Woah..erm I will try swapping over the RAM but why would it do that in the first place?

and I have I think early 2009 iMac 24"!

RAM fails at times. I have had to replace a number of sticks over the years.

Because it's weird.

lol, I'm not sure why it does that, but I've seen it happen quite often. Swapping their slots often will fix it

If it doesn't, you could also try only keeping one stick of RAM in the there and leave the other one empty. Then startup the computer. If it STILL doesn't start up, then you know that RAM stick is bad. Then, do the same thing with the other stick — put it in by itself, and if it DOES startup, then you know the first stick was bad. If BOTH don't work, then you know you need to replace both the sticks.

Hopefully that makes some sense. :)
 
I have swapped over the ram sticks but no change! It is under warranty so I will call Apple Care in the morning!

Apple should answer today! And chances are pretty good you will have replacement RAM in a couple days! :)
 
They are closed here now in the UK! :( So I got to wait for the morning and the first thing I will do is ring them.

I had the problem with my 2007 Macbook Pro, they ended up replacing the logic board, it done it three times over 2 months and then got a new replacement...hope it dont happen this time :(

Apple has the best Warranty and Support out of any company I have ever purchased a product for. Thank God because those logic boards are costly.
 
Just to give you guys a quick update, I rang apple care in the morning and the dude simply set up a repair and said we are sorry you are experiencing the problem! Hope I can get it back by Tuesday next week at the latest !

I am surprised they didn't just ship out some RAM for DIY fix.
