My PC has recently died and I am looking at the Imac as a possible replacement.

Currently the PC feeds a monitor and a projector (via an amp). I then use XBMC to watch TV/movies.

Is the Imac a good replacement for this? I was thinking(hoping) I could connect the Imac to the monitor and to the amp. I would either want the screen on the Imac and monitor and the sound through the Imac or just on the projector with the sound through the amp.

Is all of this possible? Also how loud is the imac? It will be about 1.5m behind me when I'm watching movies so don't want anything too loud.

Thanks for help.

Should be possible. The new 27" iMacs even have two TB ports so you can connect two external monitors at the same time. For sound you will need a dedicated cable but it shouldn't cost more than 10$, depending on the inputs.

However, in order to turn off the iMac's internal screen, you need something like SwitchResX.

iMac is very quiet.

Thanks. Think I am going to get one this weekend.
