Had a could of iMac's now been great, but as a lot has changed with computers/desktops/tablets it seems my use has as well.

My current iMac is late 2012 and although on latest MacOS and working great is getting a little slow now, and it only has a 1Tb fusion which I keep ally 25K pics and videos on, and my iTunes library.

As the kids have grown up they have their own laptops and don't use, wife also just uses an iPad for what she needs now as well.

I don't use it much now either, it's mainly for odd video recording, copying and storing pics, odd browsing. I seem to do most now on my iPhone or iPad.

I don't want a MacBook, and the cost of a new/refurb iMac is a lot for what I want it for nowadays.

The iPad is becoming more and more accessible for things, ability to copy files to my NAS, edit and organisey pics etc.

So my conundrum is what to do. Of course is love a new iMac to use but just seems maybe a waste.

Has anyone been in this scenario and took the (no Mac) jump? Or can you not as yet.

Thanks

I have a 12.9 iPad and it’s the most used device, browsing a little gaming etc TBH I rarely use my rMBP anymore but I still want a new iMac 5K this year even if it rarely get used. Somethings you just need a full system at times

I would think the best route is to keep the iMac you have for the occasional desktop work that needs to be done in life and buy yourself a new iPad Pro for everyday use and travel.
