Hi all,

I just wanted to run something by you. I am in the market for a new . . . well pretty much everything. Long story short: the heat was out in my apt. during the very few cold days we get here in Dallas. The apt. complex took a while to get it fixed. When they did get someone over to fix it, he didn't fix it. He fidgeted around with the thermostat, then said he was going to go check on something. Next thing I hear is a bunch of loud snaps as the circuit breakers all go at once. The the power lights on all my stuff fade out. It's all pretty much hosed.

I put a new logic board in my PB over the weekend, but the TV, external HD, PS2, DVD player, sound system, cable modem, stove, water heater . . . pretty much everything else including lights, are still out.

I was already looking to buy a desktop for work stuff. I really need a lot of screen real-estate for what I do, and I really need to run Windows, unfortunately. So an external monitor for the old 12" PB G4 doesn't really cut it for my new job, as much as I love it.

I was planning on getting the cheapest intel iMac until all the stuff went out. BTW, yes, I have renter's insurance and no, they won't cover anything unless the complex documents that the repair guy did something wrong. And they won't do that.

Now I am thinking about getting a maxed-out iMac with the 24" screen and using it as a TV until further notice, since a lot is suddenly missing that a BigMac could provide. (I would really love to see Apple debut a 30" iMac right about now.) Does anyone have much experience with the eyeTV setup and how well that works? Any comments on using the iMac as a screen, or plugging in a soon-to-be-PS3?

Yes, I am moving, and I'm not plugging a damn thing in here before I move. Aside from that, any comments or suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
MacV.
