Hi,

Got notification today my iMac is "shipped" but I am a bit gutted that TNT is the courier being used.

Anyone any comments / stories on deliveries that may help me. I need my Wife to be in to collect, but how reliable are they and do I need to call them every 5 mins to tie them to a day (or better an am/pm slot)?

Also, I have my 10 digit number beginning with 8, but the TNT site tracker does not recognise it.

Looking around I found:

http://www.apecode.com/appletrack/

But this does not recognise my number. Anyone track successfully?

Cheers.

Maybe too late for you now, but when I ordered a Mac from the Apple Store I got it delivered to my office... if it's an option, it's worth a go.

You can pretty much guarantee that a courier won't deliver outside 9am to 5pm because they don't want the hassle or to annoy a company, as opposed to an individual!

Alternatively, if you're worried about the new purchase being damaged in transit, make sure you get your wife or whoever to sign the delivery note but mark it clearly as PACKAGE UNCHECKED.

You should get a copy of the note, and the driver should keep one - gives you more clout should anything have gone wrong with the machine that could be down to mistreatment.

It will probably be TNT (sort of) to the UK but then UPS to your door.

Double check the number you have starting 80, it should work on the Apecode site and will allow you to track it to the point where it arrives at Apple's UK centre. Then you'll get a UPS tracking number on your Apple order page which will let you track from there.

Here's my tracking info from Apecode for an iMac, just to give you an idea of timescale although yours might differ due to the various delays which can occur.

The line "Accept Scanned at EDC" means its reached the Netherlands, then you should be looking at delivery to you within 3 days.

ok having done this myself, i will tell you what will happen
apecode will not track it cause its UK and not being shipped by K&N and goes straight by tnt. If you wait a few days the tracking number will become another number and will be trackable on tnt uk website as an international shipment.
it may be delayed but the website does not always update properly but using a widget you can track easily. Ordered on the 8th August here is my status below and took 2 days for the ability to track it, just keeeeeep cheking the apple track for the new number.

Looks like from previous posts I need to wait a couple of days for the track to kick in. Can't use a Widget yet as this is my first Mac!

The Track link on my ship confirmation email goes absoluetly no-where!

My amazing new iMac arrived today via UPS. Was expecting TNT so that was a surprise! Arrived 2 days ahead of predicted time too. It's fantastic.

In my experience of apple deliveries in the UK, all packages have been delivered by UPS and any returns have been collected by TNT. I found both companies services to be brilliant in terms of UPS you get a constant update of exactly where your package is what time it left the depot and such on their website but on the downside they do not provide an am or pm drop off time. TNT were great for collections they call you and ask you which hour slot is convenient for your collection to be picked up.

Got mine by TNT on the 17th. And yes, it was delivered by a TNT truck. Scheduled for delivery for the 17th and was promptly delivered on the 17th. I had almost given up hope when the shipment was stuck for 3 days at Shangai airport but after several calls to TNt - with them assuring me that delivery was still on schedule, received it at 08:30 on the date it was due.

Tracking comes up on TNT now, it's still in Shanghai.

I've been waiting for my first Apple since 1981 when I used the schools Apple ][. The last part of the journey is nearly killing me!

Nearly got a "Performa" (if memory serves me) around '95 but had to get a PC instead for App. requirements. Finally the world has turned enough for me to get what I want, not what I have to settle for!!

Date Time Location Status
22 Aug 2007 22:08 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot
21 Aug 2007 18:37 Shanghai Consignment Received At Transit Point

Still 29th delivery date.

mine arrived yesterday while i was at work, but i was able to go to pick it up luckily.

It came via UPS too, not TNT. I ordered on august 9th, arrived 22nd. (2.8GHz model)

it's a lovely jubbily machine, shame i'm using my crappy dell at work right now :(

It arrived today!

As predicted, the first delivery yesterday was aborted.

The only problem is I'm in Glasgow for work over 100 miles away. Arrrggghhh.

Can't wait to get home.

'Er indoors says the box is a tad small for all the fuss it's created. I desperately hope I'm not disappointed.
