I am hoping to buy a new 20" iMac once i have earned enough money this summer. i recently saw on the Apple uk store site that the prices have dropped by around £100 on both models. Does the price reduction give an indication of the impending core2 Duo update to the iMac line at WWDC in August or simply Apple passing on the reduction in processor prices? Any information would be helpful in my decision to go core Duo or hold out for the possibility of Core2 Duo.
Thanks

Core 2 Duo (Conroe and Merom) are over 1 month away from release so if there was going to be an update any time soon, it would be minor at best. I think September might be the month the iMac is updated.

Robbies right. Ireland saw a price reduction exactly to what the euro is against the dollar.

That's the only reason at the moment.

The iMac and MacBook have been great great sellers for apple and I dont see them updating till at least after the start of the new college/university seasons. Sept/October at the earliest.

The cost of the Mac Mini was £449 IIRC, so a £50 drop was great. Brings it closer to older Mini prices.

iMac prices encourage me for the future. Still maybe another 12 months to purchase, but I have a feeling the downward trend will continue over time and my 20" model may be a similar price with options for Blu Ray etc still possible.
