Has anyone had this happen to them?

I recently purchased an iMac and did so under the education website so I was eligible for a free nano. (If you see the UK shipping times, you'll note this process took quite a while!) Now I'm working on getting the rebate together and have been searching all over the iMac for the UPC label.

It wasn't there. I then look at the shipping label on the box they shipped the iMac in...it's under there!! How am I supposed to get the rebate now?? It's all stuck and I can't get it off w/o destroying it due to the shipping label on top of it.

There wasn't another box inside of that one that contains a UPC? Just the one box? Odd.
Yeah it looks just like a shipping box. Did you check the iMac box itself for a UPC? And if you tossed the box the iMac was packaged in...

Yeah, that's the shipping box. The iMac box came packaged in that one. And I have searched it up and down, inside and out--no label. On the shipping box pictured where you see that label, that's the shipping label. If I put it up to the light, I can see my iMac's computer label under it :( They've put it on the outside of the shipping box and then gone and stuck the damned shipping label on it.

I'd call Apple seriously. You might be able to kill the adhesive but I doubt anything will be salvageable.

It's not the shipping box - they will return your rebate form if you submit that.

It definetly should be on the white packaging itself - you will have to use a knife to cut it out.

Remember it will probably take 8 weeks before you see your rebate as well

This post just saved me from getting my rebate rejected. I was about to post off my form, etc, but had included the labels from the shippings boxes, and not the ones from the product boxes!

Your welcome.

The reason they insist it's the packaging from the boxes is to make it physically impossible for you to send back another set of codes for another rebate ;)

heat up the shipping label with a hair dryer, the hotter the better. If you get the stickum on the label hot enough you might be able to peel it off without damaging the box/label underneath. Worth a shot.

Except that it's not any good for the rebate, so it's pointless to even try. There has to be a UPC bar code on the actual iMac box...he just hasn't found it.

Man, I'm getting worried now after seeing this post, Apple is never going to believe me that they've messed this up :( (I guess a hike to the store w/the box?) It's seriously not anywhere on the iMac's box. I have looked all over it, it's not there.

On the label that's under the shipping label I can see that it says part #, serial #, and I can also see an "assembled in China" and then airport id #. But that's about it as the shipping label doesn't have many bits of white space where you can see behind it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The solution is very simple: don't try to take out the label. Instead, take a photo of it, then print it out (make sure the UPC Bar Code is visible though).

One would hope that he found the UPC at some point in the last 14+ months...if not, I'm sure the program has expired. ;)

Just went through something similar. First off, calm down! :D

No copies, pictures, peeled UPC lables, etc... will be accepted. It very clear in the rebate details.

So what is the solution? Call Apple @ 877-427-5776! They have a "Lost UPC Affadavit" form that they will fax you (yes, it needs to be faxed). Fill it out and include it with all the other rebate paperwork minus your UPC lables.

Now back away from the ledge! ;)

Edit: Just saw this is an old thread but the info above will help if someone needs it.
