what is the possibility in seeing an updated version of the imac by this christmas? Do you think it will happen?

I thought you had all the answers Lord Zedd! :'(

jk. I want to buy an imac today online, but I don't know if I should wait til' they release new information.

buy one. they may release a new one nearer to christmas time but i doubt it. waiting wont be fun. having one is a lot better.

if there would be an update, would they announce it soon? has apple ever released something without the public knowing? THANKS :)

Dude, just get one now. I have a 2.0 Core Duo from 06 (which btw got updated about a week later to C2D and they did not publicly announce it but w/e) and it outperforms every windows computer I've ever used and since then the iMacs have been advancing very rapidly. Any iMac you get will last you for at least 5 years but probably more. I have an old G4 thats 8 years old, 400mhz, and its still running.

I'd like to go ahead and disagree with that, in a way.

I upgrade my Macs every 3 years or so. No, I don't find that I *need* the latest and greatest, but that's roughly the schedule I've found where they make significant leaps in technology.

I'm about to purchase a 24" iMac this weekend to replace my G5 iMac. While my G5 iMac still runs, it is noticeably slow on some of the newer software I like to run. It's especially slow with webpages with lots of images and some newer flash-type software. My wife's Macbook is noticeably faster by a large margin.

So they may LAST a while, but I've really been noticing the age of this computer for the last year or so. I'll still keep and use my G5 iMac, but it will definitely be relegated to scrub duty.

zactly, waiting for the next/best/latest, is ,well, never ending

This said though but surely there is a very good chance of a september/october upgrade and whilst it could be a minor one apple seem to alternate between big and small updates, so this would be a big update if that remains true.

Normally i would just go ahead and but my 24"er now... but ive got a funny feeling about this one. Considering im getting the 3.06 i feel, for me at least, that waiting will be the better option.

I too got screwed a week before the C2Ds came out which was a tad disappointing for my first mac but i suppose its part of the magic of apple.

BTW the buyers guide say we're on iMac day 91/211 if that helps. Bang in the middle!

I'm confused...How is 91 days bang in the middle of 221?

Anyway, looking at the buyers guide, the iMac's seem to get updated every year during the 2nd half, so I do think there will be an update before christmas.

I'm hoping for an update sometime in October as I will be able to get the back to school offer when it comes to UK (I'm a uni student).

ok maybe ur right about bang in the middle but its middle enough and closer to this side than the other... I'm going to buy in a few weeks anyway and if a new one gets released octoberish ill have to live with it even if it is Blu-ray (which it won't be) or quad-core (which it wont be) or touchscreen (which it wont be)!! 3.2 c2d xtreme processor anybody? lol

This has been said before and I shall say it again, if the system does what YOU want then whats to blow?
