iMac updated to Leopard with problems

I'm not super technology literate but I thought I could install Leopard on my 24" iMac that I bought in September. I got the disc from my friend who works for Apple, followed all the prompts and installed it. It seemed to work fine at first but then my wireless Mighty Mouse stopped working. I could use the keyboard alright so I did a shutdown from there only it never actually shut down; the dock and desktop icons disappeared but my background stayed on. I followed my iMac manual's advice and held the power button for 6 seconds, then it shut down. I unplugged the power cord. Got it working again, was able to check the battery levels in the mouse and they were good.

Then I software updated to get any bugs out. Had a security and garageband update so restarted it. Came back on fine. Put it to sleep for the night then in the morning the mouse stopped working again. I had to go to class and would deal with it later because I could just wake up the sleeping computer. But when I came back 4 hours later it was completely unresponsive so I pressed the power button along with the command, option, p and r keys. Now it's working fine. No software updates. Battery levels in my mouse are good.

Has this happened to anyone out there? It's incredibly annoying and I want to find a way to stop it? Reinstall Leopard? I've got 230 gb of hard drive left and a gb of ram so it's not like the imac shouldn't be able to handle it. Suggestions?

Correlation does not prove causation, and in this case, the two events aren't really even correlated. You upgraded to leopard, your mouse worked for awhile, and only then stopped working. So it probably wasn't leopard causing the problem. I suggest you start a new thread titled something like"help - mighty mouse just stopped working" And write a post that is a straight to the point as possible, we don't need the whole back story, just the pertinent details.
 
This same thing is happening to me. My Mighty Mouse stopped responding after the upgrade so then I tried using a USB mouse (after I had to restart) it worked fine for a while and then the dang mouse would just freeze. I couldnt do anything at all. I never had this problem until I upgraded to 10.5. The only way out of the freeze is to do the hard restart of holding the power button down.
