Hello,
I have noticed a pattern in the upgradeability of iMac's. The iMac G3 was almost fully upgradeable with only 3 screws to remove, and you could upgrade the memory, the hard drive, and even more and it was all allowed by apple. With the iMac G4, however, you could only upgrade a small portion (and the slower portion) of all the system's memory, that was it, anything else broke your warranty. This turned around with the iMac G5 White/Intel Core Duo White, and you could upgrade all of the memory as well as the hard drive (and anything else that was accessible with gold screws) and it was all A-OK with Apple. Now, the iMac Aluminum comes around, and the pattern continues. The only upgradeable thing is the Memory, and anything else and your warranty and support goes down the drain. See the pattern?
iMac G3: Fully Upgradeable
iMac G4: Minimally Upgradeable
iMac G5 White/Core Duo White: Fully Upgradeable
iMac Aluminum: Minimally Upgradeable
Do you think this is an intended pattern, or a mere coincidence? It would be cool if it was a pattern, so then we could expect an easily upgradeable, fully upgradeable next generation iMac.
Just my thoughts and observations.
