When I ordered my 20" iMac the Apple UK website said shipment would be within 24 h of placing the order (order was placed 21st July). On the day they were due to send it (24th) shipment was delayed to the 2nd August. On the 2nd August shipment was put back again to 9th August.
I am starting to think that this is because an iMac update will be announced on the WWDC and they stoped shipping the current one around the time I ordered mine.

Any thoughts?

This could be the case, or perhaps Apple is having problems meeting the demand for iMacs. Although, I would imagine that new iMacs are on there way due to the release of the Core 2 Duo chips. :)

Even in the PowerPC days, Apple tended to update the iMac specs as close to every six months as they could (major events permitting). It makes sense with WWDC being seven months after MWSF. Time for an update.

Merom capable though? That would be fantastic, and would further differentiate the iMac from the Mac mini. Yeah, I see this happening.

It would be nice to come back from holiday to an upgraded iMac order. Not much can beat getting more than you expected...

Time will tell.

if they present a newly updated iMac (consumer product) at a developer conference, i will be disappointed if they do not present a newly updated macbook pro.

Which begs the question; Anyone here finding their MacBook Pro shipping time also slipping?

It's still 24 hours shipping on the US store.

But that doesn't mean it won't be updated.

I was hoping for an update since a friend of mine was going to switch when they came out. However, I just discovered that Matlab is not universal and does not run under Rossetta so looks like he won't be switching until that happens. That sucks.

As did the OP's iMac. It's only when he ordered one that the shipping time was altered. We need someone to order an MBP to find out, but let's face it, anyone reading this thread isn't going to are they? :D

I sure hope so, but did you custom order anything or just standard system?

During the last earning press brief.... im sure desktop sales were down on previous years, but notebooks up massively. So maybe its not a case very high demand.

I just checked my order status and it looks like the iMac was shipped from Ireland this morning. Unfortunately I'm going on holiday tomorrow for two weeks .
It's due to arrive at my office 9th. Is it an upgrade? I am going to have to stop thinking about this and get back to work.

Just got back from holiday yesterday and finally got my hands on the new iMac. The last week of my holiday was crap since I new the iMac was in my office waiting for me, how sad is that...
Any way it's a cracking bit of kit and i love it to bits even if it's not upgraded. Even my colleague who critisised me for getting it (calling it overprised and daft) is impressed with it. I'm trying to convert him from the dark side and persuade him to buy us all iMacs for the office, I think we might get there one day... :D
