My USB ports seem to be working on and off on my 24" imac. Sometimes if i plug my external hard drive in, the icon will pop up on my desktop and then immediately afterwords i get the "device removal." This is when plugging it into the keyboard. It seems to work better when plugged into the back of the computer.

Then today my camera wouldn't show up on my screen at all. I tried plugging it into my keyboard and into the back. Nothing. I just used the camera last week with no problems. I tried it on my PC and it worked fine. Any suggestions!!??

I have the same problem. I dug around online and found that if you go into system profiler and click view>>> refresh it displays the disks. Not perfect but it is the only suggestion I have. The only other option I know of is to reboot.

thanks. yeah i tried rebooting..didn't work for me. is there some kind of repair program that can be run to see what the problem is? some USB devices seem to work fine.

Don't ever plug anything into your keyboard other than your mouse.

Apple Pro Keyboard:

Version: 4.10
Bus Power (mA): 250

Hub:

Version: 1.00
Bus Power (mA): 500

The keyboard is a low powered device as is your mouse.
