Have you clicked "detect displays" in the display preferences settings on your iMac?

firtly almost all the tv connecting pc/mac via VGA support only 1024 768, so don't even try to do that with the VGA cable,it is a waste of you TV's best 1080P picture quality.

Panasonic has only one seriese 3D plasma,vt20/25 . which brings definitely the best picture quality of all the actuel tvs. the best in 2d and the best in 3d.

i don't know if you imac 24 hade displayport intregrated, if thats true, a displayport via HDMI will work. but only image,no sound.

if you have a pc with a HDMI,then don't ever hesitate to connect your tv with your pc. you can easily get a 1080P60HZ .

I would agree with past posts about not using VGA, even though there's a 15 pin VGA port on the plasma panel. The primary reason is that you won't be able to access all the display modes that the iMac offers and likely won't be too happy with the aspect ratio of the screen. With the displayport to HDMI or DVI (if your panel has a DVI port), then you'll be able to get the correct aspect ratios.

I struggled with my Mac Mini and a Panasonic 55" plasma and even SwitchRes X couldn't make VGA output work. Going to HDMI turned that panel into a great monitor.

I have the iMac 24" go though the apple part into the VGA then in the back of my Panasonic TX-P50VT20BA

Ok can you play the iMac to a Pioneer amp on HDMI as cant get it working on the VGA cable so my son has it on his laptop to his LCD Panasonic and it took 3 minutes to set up so why is it so hard on the 50" Panasonic ?
