I'm sure this questioned has been asked many times but I thought I would give you my scenario and see what you think.

The main use for my Mac would be to run the iLife suite including doing some video editing. I don't play games on my computer I have a Wii for that. I have a 19" LCD I use now that I am happy with.

I like the iMac cause of it's better specs but ofcouse that comes with a price. Also if I go the way of the mini it will free up some cash to get a 42" Plasma TV which would be cool.

So which Mac is for me?

you answered your own question...

a mini is perfect for what you listed, and you end up with a better screen and the plasma for mini/gaming/media.

no brainer. get a mini, an external (ministack) for storage, and the plasma! 1080P. nuff said. :)

So the mini will be fine for video editing? That is my only concern. Also let's say I was able to get 25% off either the iMac or Mini does that change anything?

Get what you want. A lot is also on personal desire. If you really like the look of the imac and thats what you want you will never be happy with the mini.

If you can get an iMac for 25% off, but not a Mini, it might be worth getting the low end iMac because of the low price difference, and better specs, but I agree with everyone else, the mini is fine, and saving the money and getting a nice TV for gaming is probably the better choice.

I can get any mac for 25% off.

The mini will do video editing just fine. It should render video and do processor-intensive tasks as good as the iMac.

As long as you aren't working in 3D, the Mini will be up to snuff for you.
