So I recently came across an article stating my iMac could be used as my houses router. Just asking you guys if you think my imac ( 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) would be better to use than my linksys e2000 for spreading my signal across the house. What are the pros and cons to using both?
Thanks

A dedicated router is going to provide better coverage and features than using your iMac to create an ad hoc network.

You can certainly create a network with your iMac (I've done this a few times for temporary needs) and see how it works for you, but I would use a real router.

Also - the iMac can't go to sleep and provide the network, so it would have to be awake at all times you want your network available.

The wifi range is much larger with a router. The iMac will work if you're in a small place but if you have several rooms then the iMac range will fall short.
