iMac Wallpaper Default after restart?

Hi all

I currently have my iMac wallpaper set to the dynamic Monterey one, if I put the iMac to sleep the log in screen still shows the same wallpaper but in its lighter mode regardless of the time of day…

However, if I fully restart my iMac, the log in screen displays the silver colour matched iMac wallpaper until I log in, then the log in screen reverts back to the Monterey one in light mode only.

Is this normal behaviour?? Or have I got something set up wrong?
