I've searched and read other posts regarding similar problems but nothing seems to fit my situation. I woke up this morning and my iMac had shut itself off. Upon restart I get the chime and a blank white screen. I have the new aluminum keyboard with my intel imac so boot keys do not work. I don't have an older keyboard to try yet. I've also tried getting to the boot menu with the apple remote but this does not work (this suprises me). No other weird sounds or pictures are appearing when powering on. I've reseated ram twice. Any suggestions or thoughts?

I have unplugged everything but the power cord, yes. I normally only have a mouse and keyboard.

booting up whilst holding the following sequence works for some:
option-apple-p-r
option-apple-p-l

and turning it off, unplugging everything, and holding down power button for 5 sec, some say 10 sec, is good too.

i'm not sure if you'd done any of this from your post...but that's all i could find.

make sure you don't have a disc in the slot either...
