My Dad's intel iMac (bought from Apple in December) does not accept unwritten CD-R's. Here's what happens:

You insert the CD-R.
The message "you inserted a blank CD" comes up, and it asks you what to. I simply have it open Finder.
Then, after a little waiting, I get the message, "This disk cannot de used because it is not recognized."

I have tried the identical CD-R's put in the iMac, on my Macbook, and was able to burn a CD-R without trouble. The iMac was able to read the same CD-R I made on my Macbook, that I had attempted to get the iMac to read, without problem. Music CD's and game CD's work.

He has never burned a CD on this iMac since purchase.

Is there some way to fix this, or does he have to go into the Apple store? It would be great to be able to avoid that trip, but he'll go if he needs to.

Thanks for any help!
