iMac wireless

What driver should I use for my iMac to get a/b/g/pre-n wireless support. My signal keeps jumping from between 11mbs to 36mbs and down to 24mbs whenever I use windows and my ping rates are so high because of this that I think I need a proper driver.

Oh yes, I'm running the wireless through an airport express router with WPA encryption.
And: the signal remains constant in OS X and with all the other computers on the network.

Perhaps some additional information would help?

Usually whenever there is a post where someone says, "Oh, look at me, everyone reads my post and no one responds," it's because we have no idea what you're talking about.

What version of Windows are you running? XP/SP2 or a Vista/RC? Have you tried Apple's Bootcamp drivers? What drivers are you using now? And what do you mean when you say your ping rates are high? That you have long response times? Latency? That you have many lost packets?

And why do you want 802.11a and Pre-N support when you are using an Airport Express?

If you put it that way then I guess it's my bad.

To put it simply my wireless is just going really slow. The speed jumps when it's not supposed to!? I think that it's the driver or something. Maybe there's another problem?

The reason for the a/pre-n is just, IDK, in case. By ping I meant latency. I'm running XP pro with SP2 under bootcamp.

If you have some time to experiment, please try some things...

1) Are you pinging by IP address or by domain name? If you are pinging by domain name, can you try some ping by IP address? Even use dig to find the IP address of the name you know. I am wondering if differences in the way you have XP and OS X set up to handle IPv6 may be an issue.... If so the answer is probably to disable IPv6. Sometimes systems slow down looking for IPv6 addresses unnecessarily. You can look here for more information. Although... this really shouldn't be an issue for pings after the first packet.

2) Do you get comparable results pinging your router and pinging an external site? Or do you get good pings off your router in XP?

Well the pings are all OK but the speed of the wireless in windows, the actual Mbs, is just jumping around when it should be a consistent 54Mbs!
