Heres a place I thought it would be cool to post things you want to see, but Apple will probably never add anytime soon, and things you could see Apple adding in the next update. Ill start

Things I want:

Backlit keyboards
Wireless keyboard w/ numpad
No chin
30" option
Blu-Ray drive
up to 8GB Ram
Extremely fast graphics (ex. GTX280)
Core i7

Things I see

up to 1.5TB
9400, 9600, and 9800 video cards
thinner
speed bumps throughout (2.4-2.66, 2.66-2.8, 2.8-3.06, 3.06-3.2)

Now its your turn :)

This is what the next update will entail:

2.53, 2.8, 3.06 GHz processors (it's Montevina)
2GB for all models
HDD sizes and options remain the same. The only 1.5TB drive out right now is having some... issues.
I can see them dropping ATI in favor of all nVidia GPUs, but they might not. No better than the nVidia 9800 GT or Radeon 3850.
And because someone will say it, no Blu-ray.

I'd like to see the Apple Keyboard get black keys, but backlighting on a desktop keyboard is frivolous and unnecessary.

Matching (somehow) Mighty Mouse?

Oh, and is there a 3.2 Montevina? if so, that'll be added on top of those three.

I wanna see ...

a new model imac replacing my crummy windows machine.

Come on macworld, the wait to see what could be is driving me mad.

Seriously though, I'm looking for more graphics power and the blu-ray player. The back lit keyboard is a nice idea as well.

Ideally I'd like:

-New keyboard
-Quad-Core
-Up to 8GB RAM
-1.5TB+ HDD
-3.06GHz is fine for me, but 3.2GHz wouldn't go amiss
-1GB+ GPU
-LED Screen
-30" Option

I'm uncertain how realistic that would be for the next revision, not very I suspect. Regardless, I'm planning to buy a new iMac at the next revision and I'm certain I'll be happy with it, even if it only ticks one of the above.

I want to see:

no updates and nothing new

so my mid-2008 iMac could be the latest and greatest.

Whatever the new top of the line iMac is at Macworld, assuming there will be one, it will be my first mac (not counting my hackintosh). I'd like to see:

LED display
chinless
speed bumps up to 3.2
new nVidia graphics. 9800gt?

If history tells us anything, we should always be prepared for disappointment with the iMac updates. I would prepare for only modest updates. I predict:

-LED screens
-modest speed bumps and hard drive increases
-2gig RAM standard across models.
-updated Graphics chips, something similar to NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.

I think a lot of people forget that Apple uses laptop components in their iMacs, except the harddrive. So we're not going to see QuadCore yet, or any desktop line chip.

I don't see them changing the design at all, I like the chin and the case is plenty thin already.

I'd like to see:
New keyboard
LED Screen
Larger HD
Black Body option (make one model stand out)
Graphic Card Options would be nice
2ghz Ram Standard
More USB ports (keyboard, printer, external HD and I'm out of ports) :(

I agree with your predictions. I always find them logical, but what I don't understand is why having a desktop might diminish the need for a backlit keyboard? You mean to tell me you've never used your computer at night? Sometimes I just don't want the lights on when I'm on the computer late night.

Plus, I know this is a small market, but what about gamers who game on their macs all night (i.e: WoW people). Anyway, just saying, I think there are many practical purposes out there for a desktop backlit keyboard.

And I wonder how battery life would treat a wireless backlit apple keyboard. I would love to see a keyboard like that...:D

What I reckon/hope there'll be - nothing too ground-breaking:
LED backlit display
CPU speed bump, and possibly a quad-core option in the 2.5GHz region
2GB standard (up to 8GB would be nice)
500GB standard
9600M GT low end, 9800M GT high end

One thing I'd like to happen, but doubt will happen, is for 20" model to get a MVA, PVA or IPS panel instead of the current TN.

I'm ready to sell my MBP and PC to fund an iMac in January, so I hope I'm not disappointed.

Very realistic IMO, I could see all of those changes
