Imac with Blu-Ray Drive

Considering that BRD is the winner of the format wars, I'm waiting for the next Imac to come with a Blu Ray drive.

Blue Ray would be Niiiiice...

C'mon Apple, get your skates on. There's loads of us out here waiting and waiting...

Can someone tell me why doesn't Apple doesn't update processor / hard drive / memory / graphics card as much as pc's to stay in touch with the times?

I mean, I know the usual story, where it doesn't make huge amount of difference to a mac's performance but why do they still keep the same price for older technology when they are not updating for long periods of time?

Anyone also know if I can install Mac OS onto a PC?

I'm a PC pro converting to a mac newbie, so excuse the ignorance please.

Well you can put Blu-ray drives in the Mac now, but there's no Blu-ray disc read software for Mac yet ..

Look here and here 4 your selection on Blu-ray selections.. :eek:

Youll be waiting a long time. Slot-loading "slim" blu-ray drives come with a $900 sticker price at the moment and the main driving force behind price depreciation was the format war.

I totally agree. The Mac Pros are going to be the one's that first get a BRD. It'll probably be one of the things that will be talked about when the MP is updated again.

And with the MP being updated on a yearly basis, it'll be quite a wait.
 
The MP line will be first due to authoring discs.

Now that there's only one format, probably in the late fall if prices go down fast enough.

The slot-loading BD-RW drive is still $950.

I went to Sony's website and they are offering BD drives on their laptops now, here's the config:

I assume, though, Sony has the market on these drives. It's a matter of time that Apple will get these slimline drives, I assume usually from Pioneer.

Don't be surprised if Apple develops 1080i/p downloadable content before they offer blu-ray support.

wow $400 bucks.. pretty darn cheap...

oh wait thats american?? dang thats expensive. lol
