iMac with dirt/dust under the glass

So I just took delivery of my new 24" iMac - typing this post on it as a matter of fact. Everything looked fine with the screen, but I'm hardly the most discerning in terms of gradient - but then I noticed a rather large (well, probably pixel-sized) dark spot just under the default location of the "Macintosh HD" icon on the desktop. Dead pixel, I thought. Wrong, because it parallaxes against the LCD screen when you move from side-to-side, so it's apparently a piece of dirt on the under side of the glass.

It seems like it may have appeared during setup, because I had a good look at the screen when all the white was up during setup and didn't notice until I'd been working on the desktop.

I'd post a pic if I weren't so OS X illiterate that I couldn't figure out how to get an individual picture of of my "Photo Library" and attach it.

Is this the sort of thing I'd call Apple about or go to the Genius Bar? I've never dealt with either one for any of my iPods, which I've never had issues with, so actually getting support from Apple is kind of new, lol! I ordered it at the online Apple store if that makes any difference. I'm really just trying to decide how annoying it is. It wouldn't be too bad if it were on the left hand side of the screen, but it's on the side where everything is placed by default, making it pretty annoying. Ugh.

I have the same thing at the bottom of my screen. It appeared after I upgraded the RAM. It bugged me a bit at first, but now I don't really think about it. It would have been worse if it was in the middle of the screen.

I'd say, if it bugs you a lot and you can take it in someplace where they will fix it right away, then do it. You can easily do it yourself, but you will risk voiding the warranty, so it might not be worth that.

Just try living with it for a while and see if you still think about it. At least it's good to know that it's dust and not a dead pixel, so it can easily be fixed later on.

It doesn't seem too difficult to do actually. I definitely wouldn't do such a thing in my bedroom - where the iMac resides - as it's too dusty in there for taking off the glass. However, down in the dining room there's very little dust so I could try it there. The spec is close to one edge, so I wouldn't have to lift the glass far either. I've built my own PCs for years before buying this iMac, so I'm not really squeamish doing these sort of things.

Just wondering if there's some kind of strip that would alert anyone that I'd actually removed the glass, or would I just void the warranty if somehow I were to break the glass in the process of removing it?

The glass is held on by magnets.

Still, this sounds more like a quality control issue that you can call Apple up for.

I just turned on my brand new 27" machine this afternoon and there's a big dust speck right in the middle. Given that I have three dogs here at home, I'm not going to try to clean this myself.

The idea of having to take this to the store is a drag though.
