I have just tried connecting my iMac to two plasmas with HDMI.

One tv is 1080p, the other 1080i. I have set up a splitter to send the signal to both TVs. They both receive the signal fine at 1080i.

However, when I turn the TVs off, the iMac continuously refreshes the whole screen, as if it is trying to change resolutions. So it works fine while the TVs are on, but starts doing this refresh thing when they are turned off..

Any ideas why this is happening?

Not sure, but... splitting HDMI to two different tvs is usually a bad idea. HDMI is a two way protocol, not a dumb one way protocol. Talk to two different tvs will probably confuse your iMac.

What are you using to split the HDMI signal?!

Might be better to use VGA if the cables runs are short!

this is really annoying.. Works fine when both TVs are on, but as soon as they are turned off the iMac starts refreshing..

just using a 1 in, 2 out powered HDMI splitter I got off ebay.
