I'm hoping that Jobs is going to announce that the new LED displays are going to be integrated into the fresh iMac design. It only seems logical, right? They come out with this sweet new display and everyone wants one. Why not build the new spec iMacs around the new display design. Do it, do it!!!!

Well, since he said that 2008 will be the last year they ship displays that aren't LED backlit, I'm going to go with YEAH.

But they'll still have the chin and they won't get H-IPS panels.
Doesn't the 24" already have an H-IPS panel? Or is it S-IPS? Nevertheless, its an awesome screen.

The chin is what makes an iMac an iMac. It looks awesome, better than the new 24" display IMO.

LED is a definite yes.

There are some(many?) people wanting the chin to go, I think it has to stay for different reasons.
Anyway, LED is definitely making its way in the iMac line-up in 2009, and I'm afraid it would have to make them cost a little more.

AWESOME. Thanks for the responses. I have been holding off on getting a new iMac for a couple months now because I could just "feel" that there was going to be an upgrade. I also like the chin the way it is. I would just hate to get one right now and then two months later the LED display models come out. It's going to be awesome :)

someone took apart their 24" and saw that it is an LG panel that is used. They looked up the model # and confirmed that it is a H-IPS panel.

My guess is it will be standard on the 20" iMac and an upgrade on the 24". The LED panels are just too pricey at anything above 20 inches.
