Hi guys,

I got an iMac today and have got it home, nothing's wrong with it but when I try to connect to the internet via wi-fi it won't let me, i've found a message that says "AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet" what the hell does this mean?! And can anyone help me fix it?

Thanks.

Might need a bit more info, but initially I would suggest you power cycle/reset the router. This might work, however when I had the same problem I ended up manually assigning IP addresses to all the macs in the house. If you're not sure how to do this then post back here.
