Hello,

I just purchased a new 20" imac and am new to os x but think it's great. However, I'm having a problem with scheduleing the power on and off feature in the preferences. It's not working. At all. It doesn't power on when it should, and doesn't power off when it should.

I've tried to look for an answew on apples website, and they do mention an issue about how the settings might not save if you hit the lock, but that doesn't seem to fix it.

Anyone have any ideas on how to correct this?

I have noticed that setting the Mac to, for example, shutdown 2 minutes later won't always work.
I tried setting the shutdown schedule to 10 minutes from now, and reboot the Mac. This seemed to work for me. Maybe the NVRAM is configured, and therefore a reboot might be necessary before it works.

okay, i will try that. I initially set it up to start up automatically the next day when I got home from work, but it didn't come on.

Yeah, so I would set the schedule and reboot the Mac manually.

After the reboot, test that the scheduled shutdown works, and then test the scheduled start.

Good luck.
